Position Description:
We are seeking a dependable and skilled General Maintenance Technician with strong plumbing knowledge to support federal facilities in Yuma and San Luis. This role blends general building maintenance with hands-on plumbing work to help maintain safe, functional, and mission-critical government buildings.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Plumbing Maintenance & Repairs
• Perform minor plumbing work, including:
- Repairing leaks (sinks, toilets, faucets, supply lines)
- Clearing clogged drains and traps
- Replacing or tightening fixtures, valves, cartridges, P-traps
- Minor pipe repairs (PEX, copper, PVC)
• Inspect restrooms, mechanical rooms, and utility areas for leaks and issues.
• Support licensed plumbers during larger repairs or project work.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks related to plumbing systems.
General Building Maintenance
• Replace ceiling tiles, bulbs, and air filters.
• Assist with minor carpentry, painting, drywall patching, and door hardware adjustments.
• Perform basic mechanical checks and facility walkthroughs.
• Support grounds or custodial tasks as needed for special events or emergencies.
Vendor & Trade Support
• Escort plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and fire protection contractors.
• Provide initial troubleshooting before trade escalation.
• Ensure contractors follow facility safety and security protocols.
Safety & Documentation
• Complete work orders, PM logs, and inspection forms accurately.
• Follow OSHA guidelines and federal facility rules.
• Maintain tools, workspace cleanliness, and safety equipment.
Required Qualifications
• 2–4 years experience in general maintenance, plumbing, or facility repair.
• Working knowledge of basic plumbing systems (supply, drain, fixtures).
• Ability to use plumbing tools such as plungers, augers, wrenches, PEX tools, etc.
• Ability to read simple diagrams and understand plumbing component basics.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in mechanical rooms.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Must be able to pass a federal background check (HSPD-12).
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in federal, commercial, or industrial facilities.
• Familiarity with CMMS/NCMMS work order systems.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC or electrical is a plus.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
