Position Description:

 

The Aircraft Launch and Arresting Devices (ALAD) Pipefitter will support a Naval Air Program located at Naval Air Station in Lakehurst, NJ. We are a leading provider of technology solutions across multiple markets including Federal Agencies, the Defense Sector, Energy and Public Safety Markets, and Commercial Markets. The Prototype and Manufacturing Department provides critical hardware for the fleet. We overhaul arresting engines and launch valves and are the sole source of supply for the cables used for aircraft arrestment (i.e., purchase cables and cross-deck pendants). We manufacture hardware in response to fleet emergencies, and we manufacture a wide range of support equipment and test this equipment appropriately. We are the sole source of supply and last source of supply for critical hardware that is essential to Navy Fleet operations.

 

As a federal contractor, CNI is a drug-free workplace and adheres to the Federal Controlled Substance Act.      

This is a 4/10 schedule working 10 hours per day and 4 days per week Monday-Thursday with optional OT on Friday/Saturday, dependent on business needs.

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to pass a customer background check for access to facilities, equipment and property. This Homeland Security Investigation requires U.S. Citizenship.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Performs a wide range of tasks associated with the fabrication, assembly, and overhaul of equipment. ALAD Pipefitter performs tasks primarily on Aircraft Launch and Arresting Devices (ALAD). These tasks may include, but are not limited to:

·         Disassembly and assembly of equipment.

·         Repair and regular maintenance of arresting engines.

·         Must be capable of reading and interpreting military drawings.

·         Assembles, installs, alters, and repairs pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases.

·         Lays-out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains mechanical piping systems which include industrial processing systems, and high-pressure piping systems according to the working drawings.

·         Assists in lifting, positioning and securing material and work pieces during installation.

·         Builds piping manifold with a working pressure of 3000 PSI and hydrostatically test components up to 14000 PSI.

·         Manufactures Butt weld, Socket weld & bend sch-160 pipe manifolds and fabricate hose & SS tubing. 

·         May be required to work with hazardous materials (HAZMAT) and are required to know how to read and interpret material data safety sheets.

·         The ability to properly fit and use of safety and protective equipment is required.

·         Work in a dirty environment requiring the use of coveralls and suits (e.g. Tyvek) may be required.

·         Preference to candidates with experience in mechanics, engine maintenance, brake systems, and/or aircraft engine repair.

·         Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.  

·         Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

·         High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

 

REASONING ABILITY

 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
