We're looking for a Consumer Loan Underwriter who is passionate about member service, skilled in credit analysis, and eager to contribute to the continued growth of our indirect lending program.
As a Consumer Loan Underwriter, you will:
- Review and evaluate consumer loan applications, making lending decisions in accordance with credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure loan applications and supporting documentation are accurate, complete, and compliant.
- Approve, counteroffer, or decline loan applications within assigned lending authority
- Identify red flags or potential fraudulent applications
- Utilize internal resources to ensure accuracy and minimize risk
- Manage the indirect lending application queue while assisting with direct lending underwriting
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with dealership partners.
- Monitor and manage the indirect lending portfolio to support growth, quality, and profitability goals.
- Perform key functions within the indirect lending process, including transmitting, receiving, closing, and funding loans.
- Train, mentor, and support staff on indirect lending policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to deepen member relationships through additional credit union products and services.
- Participate in departmental initiatives, process improvements, and special projects.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Indirect lending or indirect auto lending experience (preferred).
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize credit union lending and core processing systems.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
- Availability to work flexible schedules and occasional Saturdays.
