Accountant

Texell Credit Union, named one of the best credit unions to work for in the nation by the Credit Union Journal, is seeking an Accountant to work onsite at our Temple, TX headquarters. Must have a BA or BS in Accounting or Finance -or- at least four (4) years of accounting experience.

As an Accountant, you will:

• Review general ledger transactions and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with established deadlines.
• Investigate and resolve complex reconciliation exceptions.
• Complete month end posting and prep, reviewing entries and ensuring accuracy prior to finalization of financials.
• Prepare financial reports; ensure complete/accurate financial, statistical, and account records of the Credit Union.
• Assist in the development of accounting procedures to obtain optimum efficiency and reduced costs.
• Collect data and prepare audit workpapers and supporting schedules for examiners and auditors on year-end audits, internal audits, and periodic examinations.
• Suggest ideas for and participate in various project teams implementing, operational improvements and new products and services.

Depending on experience, strengths, and department needs, the Accountant will be assigned responsibilities from the areas below and may cross-train in multiple functions.

• Review daily GL accounts ensuring accuracy and correcting errors as necessary assisting branches in resolving variances.
• Complete subsidiary accounting and/or commercial accounting entries
• Corporate credit card recon management and/or investment posting & balancing
• Complete property tax renditions and/or 945 tax filings.
• Manage the fixed asset tracking software conduction audits as needed to ensure accuracy.
• Assist with accounts payable and/or eATM balancing as needed/as backup.
• Complete other assigned tasks as needed.
   

We are looking for someone who:

• Has graduated with a BA, BS in Accounting or Finance -or- has at least four (4) years of accounting experience (required).
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis preferred.
• Demonstrates a positive, solutions-oriented mindset and a willingness to adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Familiarity with GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Is a good communicator and enjoys collaborating with a team. 
• Credit union experience is a plus.
• Can adhere to the highest ethical standards and always exhibit professional conduct.
