Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of litigation from case inception through resolution across multiple insurance defense matters.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research utilizing Westlaw and other legal research platforms.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, settlement agreements, and other legal documents with accuracy and clarity.
- Develop case strategies by analyzing evidence, witness testimony, and expert reports.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, depositions, hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.
- Negotiate settlements and work toward favorable resolutions for clients.
- Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Collaborate with attorneys, clients, experts, and support staff to achieve successful case outcomes.
- Accurately record billable time and meet established billing expectations.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in the State of Illinois.
- Experience in insurance defense litigation.
- Proficiency in legal research using Westlaw.
- Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Experience handling court appearances, depositions, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and case management abilities.
- Familiarity with legal billing software and the ability to meet billing goals.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
