Job Title: Teen Leadership Facilitator: Teen Leadership Institute
Salary & Dates: $3,000. Dates for this position are July 3-August 2 (training, prep program).
Job Description: Teen Leadership Facilitators Staff will lead an incredible adventure for 42-48 teens from the Bay Area to Portland, Oregon and all the way back to Camp Tawonga. Teen Leadership Facilitators are responsible for their teens' physical and emotional needs on the trip, all while guiding them through Tawonga leadership programming and outfitter led programming.
Job Responsibilities
Collaborate with Teen Leadership Supervisor to run TLI Program in and away from Camp, this includes:
Teaching and Supervision
Facilitating Programs
Develop and lead programming for teens
Support guest educators and outside vendors during their programs
Ongoing support and supervision of TLI Teens
Ensure teens are on time, appropriate, and prepared for each activity. Manage teens behavior as needed, reinforce expectations and provide reasonable consequences as needed, including behavior for the first two weeks away from Camp on the road.
Observe teens working autonomously and collaboratively with their peers
Complete camper observation forms
Provide meaningful feedback and mentoring throughout the program
Facilitate regular reflections as a group and individually
Interface professionally with department heads and outfitters as needed
Role Modeling
Teens will be watching everything you do as an example of how to be a great staff member, even when you don’t realize they are watching
Logistics
Support with daily schedule, equipment and supplies, programming, traveling, food preparation
Certifications
Strongly preferred to be Tawonga Driver Certified (attend Driver Training on June 3rd) and be 21 with clean driver record and comfort driving SUVs
Wilderness First Responder and Lifeguard Certification preferred (Tawonga reimburses substantial part of the cost of these certifications)
Mentor
Support of their emotional and physical well-being of all program participants
Observe group dynamics and help to build community.
Connect authentically with the group as a whole and with individual teens.

On the Road:
Participate in service projects which include but are not limited to: construction and gardening.
Help carry bags, supplies and materials which may weigh up to 50 lbs.
Participate in outdoor activities including White Water Rafting, Mountain Biking and Rock Climbing
Sit in a bus for up to 10 hours
Be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
Work in outdoor weather conditions
At camp:
Almost all positions at Tawonga include long, active days where it is normal to walk 4-8 miles between staff housing, communally shared meals and various locations where work responsibilities occur.
