Registered Nurse (RN) - Mental Health

A health services network in New York is actively seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join one of their inpatient child & adolescent psychiatric facility in Oneida County. In this role, the Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing direct nursing care and services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders.

About the Opportunity:

• Shift: Nights
• Schedule: 3 or 4 shifts per week
• Hours: 7pm to 7:30am (11pm to 7:30am
• Setting: Inpatient Mental Health
• Patient Population: Children & Adolescents (5-17 years of age)

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates and provides nursing care to individuals
• Administers treatments and nursing procedures within established guidelines and as prescribed by licensed health care providers
• Conducts nursing assessments; and obtains, records, and updates individuals' health information and vital signs, using standard instruments and procedures
• Observes, monitors, and records individuals' symptoms, conditions, and care
• Makes clinical rounds to assess individuals' nursing care needs and observe and participate in the provision of nursing services
• Provides health teaching, counseling, and education to individuals, families, and other groups; and develops health improvement programs
• Implements infection control protocols and procedures and provides related consultation and instruction to staff
• Maintains and updates charts, records, and other documentation, consistent with agency, State, and federal requirements
• Monitors inventories and ensures that standards for medications, solutions, supplies, and equipment are maintained to meet nursing care needs
• Performs other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• 1 year of Nursing experience
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification

Desired Skills:

• At least 1 year of experience in a Behavioral Health setting
