Job Title: Property Accountant / Sr. Property Accountant
Location: Port Chester, NY ( 4 days on site, 1 day remote )
Salary: $80,000 - $120,000

A highly regarded, publicly traded real estate investment firm is seeking a Property Accountant or Senior Property Accountant to support a diverse portfolio of retail and mixed-use assets across major U.S. markets. This is a growth-oriented opportunity open to both mid-level and senior-level candidates, depending on experience.

The Property Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting, general ledger management, and operational accounting for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This individual will work cross-functionally with asset management, acquisitions, and finance teams, gaining exposure to both stabilized and value-add investments.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation of financial statements
- Maintain general ledger accuracy, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Prepare property-level financial reporting packages for internal stakeholders and external partners
- Analyze financial results vs. budget and prior periods, providing variance explanations
- Assist with audit deliverables, including workpapers and supporting documentation
- Contribute to reporting associated with joint ventures, lenders, and investment structures
- Support acquisitions and dispositions, including onboarding new assets and transition accounting
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting accuracy, and efficiency
(Senior-level candidates may also lead portions of the close process, mentor junior staff, and take ownership of more complex reporting and integration activities.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2 years of real estate / property accounting experience (level flexible based on experience)
- Experience with general ledger accounting and financial reporting
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
- Commercial real estate / property accounting
- Exposure to joint ventures, fund accounting, or multi-entity structures
- CPA (or progress toward certification)
- Experience supporting audits or SEC reporting environments
- Highly respected, stable, and growth-oriented real estate platform
