What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investment Associate position at Talently?
Private Equity Associate / Senior Associate | Mid-Atlantic
The Opportunity
Our client is a well-established, highly regarded private equity firm in the Mid-Atlantic region with a long track record of generating exceptional returns for investors and partnering closely with management teams to build lasting value. The firm operates with a differentiated investment strategy — combining deep sector expertise with a flexible, relationship-driven approach to deal sourcing and execution that sets it apart from generalist PE shops.
What You'll Do
- Source and evaluate new investment opportunities across the firm's target sectors, building proprietary relationships with founders, management teams, and intermediaries
- Execute full-cycle deal execution — financial modeling, valuation, diligence, structuring, and negotiation — across buyouts, growth equity, recapitalizations, and other transaction types
- Prepare investment memos and present recommendations directly to senior leadership and the Investment Committee
- Support portfolio company management teams on strategic, operational, and financial initiatives post-close
- Contribute to the firm's sourcing engine by developing and maintaining a network of industry relationships, co-investors, and deal referral sources
- Monitor portfolio performance and support follow-on financing, M&A, and exit processes
Who You Are
- 2–5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or growth equity
- Strong financial modeling skills across multiple transaction types and structures
- Genuine intellectual curiosity about the sectors and companies you cover — you go deep, not wide
- Comfortable working directly with founders, executives, and senior investors from day one
- Excellent communicator — written, verbal, and in the room
- Self-directed and entrepreneurial — you identify what needs to happen and make it happen
- Located in or open to relocating to the Mid-Atlantic region
Preferred Background
- Experience across multiple transaction types — buyouts, recapitalizations, growth equity, secondary transactions, or carveouts
- Track record of sourcing or contributing to proprietary deal origination
- MBA or advanced degree a plus but not required
Salary : $150,000 - $175,000
