Job Title: MIG Welder
Job Summary
The MIG Welder is responsible for joining metal components using the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) process. This role involves reading blueprints, preparing materials, operating welding equipment, and ensuring high-quality welds that meet safety and industry standards. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, technical skills, and a commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding on steel, aluminum, and other metals according to specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols
- Set up and operate MIG welding equipment, including selecting appropriate materials and settings
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, cutting, and grinding metals
- Inspect completed welds to ensure structural integrity and quality standards
- Repair and rework defective welds as necessary
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Collaborate with team members, fabricators, and supervisors to complete projects efficiently
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
Preferred Qualifications
- Welding certification (e.g., AWS certification)
- Experience with multiple welding processes (TIG, Stick)
- Familiarity with fabrication tools and machinery
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial settings
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Prolonged standing, bending, and kneeling
- Good vision (with or without correction), including depth perception
- Steady hands and strong coordination
