Job Overview
Fox Construction Inc., Steamboat Springs’ longest-standing general contractor, is seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Manager to lead high-end residential and commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout. This dual-role position places you at the center of estimating, budgeting, procurement, and project execution—ensuring each project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the exceptional quality standards Fox Construction is known for.
You will collaborate closely with clients, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver lasting structures and build long-term relationships throughout the Yampa Valley.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Preconstruction
- Prepare detailed cost estimates during all design phases (conceptual, DD, CD)
- Manage bid and RFP processes, including scope development and subcontractor selection
- Perform cost analysis, budgeting, and value engineering reviews
- Lead design-build preconstruction meetings and early planning efforts
- Issue letters of intent (LOIs), negotiate subcontracts, and coordinate early deliverables
Project Management
- Oversee project execution from mobilization through construction and closeout
- Partner with site superintendents to manage schedules, safety, and quality control
- Conduct regular jobsite visits and proactively resolve field issues
- Lead weekly subcontractor meetings and O.A.C. meetings
- Track budgets, change orders, schedules, and subcontractor performance
Client Relations & Closeout
- Manage final walkthroughs, punch lists, and project handovers
- Oversee preparation of O&M manuals, warranties, and as-built documentation
- Lead one-year warranty check-ins and post-project follow-ups
- Participate in internal project reviews to improve processes and outcomes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field
- 10 years of experience in estimating and project management within residential and commercial construction
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, building codes, and subcontractor management
- Proficiency with construction software, spreadsheets, and estimating tools
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- English fluency required; Spanish proficiency is a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying outdoor conditions
