This role serves as a true cross-functional business partner, helping evolve the Finance and Accounting function from traditional recordkeeping to a strategic, value-driving operation that supports internal stakeholders and company leadership.The Controller oversees all financial activities of the organization, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and compliance. This role also serves as the primary liaison with financial institutions and the Company’s external CPA firm for financial and tax reporting and planning.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and/or direct the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agenciesMonitor and analyze financial statements to ensure key ratios align with industry standardsProvide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial operating reports to the CEO and Management TeamSupervise and oversee Accounting department personnel, budget preparation, and the annual audit/review conducted by the external CPA firmMeet regularly with department heads to stay informed on operations and provide financial guidanceEstablish and maintain procedures and systems to ensure accurate financial records and strong accounting controlsReview financial reports to analyze projections, budgets, sales, and profit against actual results; recommend improvements to planning and forecasting processesAnalyze company operations to identify opportunities for improvement, restructuring, cost reduction, or efficiency gainsNegotiate and arrange routine, operational-level financing and leasing agreementsMonitor cash flow and ensure efficient working capital managementDevelop and maintain AR cash receipts forecastsAssist in ensuring accounts payable and accounts receivable are paid and collected in a timely mannerManage banking payment processes and approvalsOversee and manage the monthly close processOversee payroll processing and related controlsOversee employee benefits plans with a focus on cost effectiveness and valueOversee the issuance and accuracy of financial informationMaintain appropriate insurance coverage for the organizationEnsure recordkeeping meets auditor and government agency requirementsMaintain and manage banking relationshipsMonitor cash balances and short- and long-term cash forecastsMonitor debt levels and ensure compliance with debt covenantsEnsure compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filingsLeadership & SupervisionLead and develop the Accounting and Finance team (2 direct reports)Oversee hiring, training, performance management, and workflowEnsure compliance with company policies and applicable regulationsAddress employee performance issues and departmental prioritiesEducation & Experience RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business7 years of financial operations experienceStrong understanding of GAAP, tax, compliance, and financial reportingHands-on experience with QuickBooks (required)Experience supporting or administering HR-related processesPreferred Skills & AttributesExperience with Paycor strongly preferredHigh attention to detail with the ability to see the big pictureProactive, accountable, and execution-focusedStrong communication skills across departments and leadershipHigh integrity, positive attitude, and strong work ethicComfortable operating in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment
