Salary: $90,000 - $100,000
Locations: Bay Ridge, Brooklyn & Manhattan
Requirements:
• Master’s Degree in Special Education
• NYS Certification in Special Education
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Special Education Teacher
• NYS School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) Certification
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a School Administrator
• Experience working with children from birth through 2nd grade required for permitting purposes
Summary:
• Direct, coordinate, develop, and supervise all program components to ensure effective service delivery for children served
• Provide oversight of educational, clinical, medical, clerical, and maintenance operations
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and agency standards
• Exercise independent judgment within established policies and procedures
• Serve as liaison between agency programs, community organizations, school districts, and families
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee recruitment, staff development, performance management, and supervision
• Direct daily operations of education, clinical, medical, clerical, and maintenance departments
• Prepare agency reports, departmental projections, and operational statistics
• Develop, implement, and monitor program budgets
• Approve classroom placements and curriculum design
• Serve as liaison between parents and school districts
• Develop and implement program goals, policies, and procedures
• Approve purchases of supplies and equipment
• Coordinate communication with community organizations and school districts
• Facilitate student transitions to appropriate educational placements
• Oversee student placement decisions and referrals
• Ensure staff completion of required in-service training
• Develop and implement staff training programs related to children's needs
• Conduct safety assessments and promote a safe learning environment
• Lead public relations and community education efforts
• Plan for department growth and expansion
• Develop and implement Quality Assurance initiatives
• Participate in agency-wide committees
• Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in Special Education
• Minimum 5 years of Special Education teaching experience
• Minimum 4 years of School Administration experience
• NYS Permanent Certification as a Special Education Teacher
• NYS Permanent Certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administrator and
Supervisor (SAS)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Proficiency with computers, software applications, and email systems
• Knowledge of adaptive equipment and assistive devices
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with staff, families, and community stakeholders
