About the Role:
As Civil Construction Superintendent-Foreman, you will oversee day-to-day field operations on heavy civil projects, with a strong focus on earthwork and underground utility installation. You will coordinate crews, equipment, and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of work. Your leadership will be central to meeting schedules, maintaining productivity, and upholding project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise laborers, operators, and drivers on-site to ensure safe, efficient, and coordinated operations
- Plan and sequence heavy earthwork activities, including excavation, grading, and backfilling, in line with project plans and schedules
- Oversee installation of underground utilities, including sanitary sewer, storm drainage, water systems, and pump stations
- Interpret construction drawings and specifications to direct field activities and verify work compliance
- Coordinate daily equipment usage, material deliveries, and subcontractor activities to maintain workflow and minimize downtime
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce safety policies, procedures, and best practices on the job site
- Monitor work progress, quality, and productivity, adjusting manpower and methods as needed to meet targets
- Communicate regularly with project management regarding progress, issues, and resource needs
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Superintendent or Foreman role on civil construction projects
- Strong hands-on background in heavy earthwork operations, including excavation and grading
- Demonstrated experience overseeing installation of underground utilities (sanitary sewer, storm drainage, water systems, pump stations)
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage field crews, including laborers, operators, and drivers
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting civil plans, profiles, and construction specifications
- Solid understanding of job site safety practices and regulatory requirements
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to make timely field decisions
