Summary: The Plant Supervisor supports the Plant Manager by overseeing daily production, ensuring safety and quality standards, and coordinating cross-functional efforts to maintain efficient plant operations. This role supervises frontline staff, resolves operational issues, and drives continuous improvement.
Essential Duties of Position:
- Ensure work instructions and procedures are followed, recommending improvements to minimize risks and engaging team members to understand their goals and functions
- Assign scheduled production tasks to appropriate team members
- Monitor daily task progress and reallocate team members between departments to ensure timely completion of workloads
- Collaborate with Operations Manager, Maintenance, and Transportation to address immediate plant needs such as repairs, supplies, trailers, and equipment
- Promote and enforce safety compliance with OSHA standards, maintaining clean work areas, safe operations, and proper use of PPE
- Support the requirements of the company Quality Management System (ISO 9001)
- Participate in and follow up on team member training, progress, and development through cross-training and job rotations
- Manage all aspects of team leadership, including participation in hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance evaluations, corrective action, and terminations in collaboration with HR and in alignment with company policies and procedures
- Serve as the point of contact for emergency situations; lead incident investigations and ensure proper documentation and corrective actions are implemented
- Address interpersonal or performance issues within the team promptly and constructively to maintain a productive and respectful work environment
- Lead projects to improve organization, efficiency, and reduce workflow errors and waste
- Accept new challenges, responsibilities, and roles as needed
- Align with and support the company’s goals and values
- Other duties assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of plant operations and safety protocols
- Ability to lead and motivate production teams
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and coordination across departments
- Basic proficiency in production tracking systems and reporting
- Commitment to quality and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- High School/GED required; two-year degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or plant operations role (required)
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in a plant management or supervisory role (required)
- Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems preferred
