Work schedule: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM (includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break), totaling 35 billable hours per week.
Engagement Duration: Approximately 6 months, including a mandatory 2-week unpaid leave annually.
Pay Rate: $30 per hour
Role Summary
The Procurement Consultant is responsible for executing sourcing strategies aligned with organizational goals. This role applies category management principles and leverages demand planning techniques to evaluate and prioritize internal stakeholder requirements, typically involving medium to high complexity. The position primarily utilizes Request for Proposal (RFP) strategies across a defined portfolio of categories. Key responsibilities include drafting and managing contracts, overseeing supplier relationships throughout the contract lifecycle, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies. The consultant collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including Project Management, Legal, Cybersecurity, and Risk Management to deliver measurable value, cost efficiencies, and operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
This role is accountable for managing assigned sourcing initiatives under the direction of the Procurement Director. The consultant is expected to handle multiple concurrent requisitions, each varying in scope, complexity, and financial impact. Additionally, the role maintains ownership of executed contracts, ensuring proper administration through their lifecycle, including renewal, closeout, and performance monitoring.
Business Relationships & Problem Resolution
- Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and project managers.
- Collaborates with departments such as Legal, DDCR, Inventory Management, Finance, and Accounts Payable to ensure efficient procure-to-pay operations.
- Manages supplier relationships to ensure optimal delivery of goods and services throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Utilizes procurement operations and support teams for category analysis, reporting, and system support.
- Keeps leadership informed and seeks guidance when necessary.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare documentation for approvals for high-value requisitions.
- Manage and complete RFP processes within defined timelines.
- Identify suppliers and manage solicitation processes.
- Evaluate proposals ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee contract award and execution in collaboration with legal teams.
- Coordinate documentation and compliance requirements.
- Conduct market research and gather intelligence for procurement decisions.
- Perform cost analysis and vendor negotiations.
Contract Management & Administration
- Negotiate contracts ensuring appropriate terms and conditions.
- Manage full contract lifecycle including execution, renewal, and closure.
- Monitor contract performance and compliance.
- Resolve discrepancies in purchase orders and invoicing.
Performance Metrics
- Achieve cost savings and value targets.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Contract Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in sourcing, contract management, and procurement processes.
- Strong knowledge of procure-to-pay lifecycle, policies, and risk management.
- Experience with ERP purchasing systems and procurement tools.
- Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation capabilities.
- Proficiency in standard business software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
