Accounting Manager (CPA Required)
Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and strong internal controls. This role leads the month-end close process, manages accounting staff, supports audits, and partners with cross-functional teams to drive financial accuracy and operational excellence. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Manage and lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and estimates for completeness and compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare and review balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting across departments or business units.
GAAP Compliance & Technical Accounting
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal control standards.
- Research, interpret, and implement accounting guidance for complex transactions.
- Prepare technical accounting memos and documentation to support accounting positions.
- Support accounting implications of new business initiatives, system implementations, and process changes.
Internal Controls & Audit
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including SOX compliance where applicable.
- Address audit findings and implement corrective action plans.
- Ensure proper documentation, segregation of duties, and compliance with company policies.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff; provide coaching, performance feedback, and career development support.
- Assign and review work to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of accounting team members.
Operational & Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with FP&A, Operations, Tax, Treasury, and external advisors to ensure alignment across finance functions.
- Support budgeting and forecasting through accurate historical data and financial insight.
- Improve accounting processes through automation, standardization, and best practices.
- Serve as a key finance contact for operational leaders and senior management.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Ensure effective use of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, JD Edwards, or similar).
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Support system implementations, upgrades, and integrations as needed.
- Leverage Excel and reporting tools to analyze trends and support decision-making.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
Experience
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or management responsibility.
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing month-end close, audits, and financial reporting.
- Manufacturing or complex operational environment experience preferred.
Salary : $100,000 - $145,000
