Position Overview
Calling all Monitor Techs who can spot a rhythm change faster than most people can spot a typo. This role is your chance to join a regional cardiac monitoring service supporting 8 hospitals from an off-site centralized location. If your superpower is staying organized while tracking a high number of patients—and doing it with calm confidence—this is your moment.
You’ll be monitoring 45–55 patients per tech, keeping a constant eye on telemetry rhythms from across multiple units: observation, med-surg tele, PCU, ICU—you name it, you’ll watch it.

Blended Roles & Responsibilities
(A mix of VMS-provided duties UHS-style enhancements)
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms for a large regional patient population.
- Analyze, interpret, and document EKG strips using Philips and GE monitoring systems.
- Communicate clinically significant rhythm changes using Vocera or Mobile Heartbeat.
- Maintain organized workflow while multitasking across up to 55 patients.
- Perform alarm management per protocol and escalate concerns using chain of command.
- Complete q6hr and event-driven documentation in an electronic medical record.
- Participate in orientation including EKG test, EPIC training, and a structured onboarding process.
- Work 12-hour shifts (6pm–6:30am) with holiday and every-other-weekend potential.
- Adjust to occasional standby needs (rare, but possible).
- Collaborate with break relief staff and the monitor tech lead for support.
Qualifications
- Prior Monitor Tech experience required.
- Strong understanding of basic EKG interpretation.
- Ability to multitask and stay exquisitely organized in a high-volume monitoring setting.
- Excellent communication skills.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Monitor Tech or Telemetry Technician training program completion required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of cardiac rhythms for all patient types: Obs, Tele, Med-Surg, PCU, ICU.
- Skill in identifying arrhythmias and notifying appropriate staff promptly.
- Ability to use multiple software platforms, including EPIC and mobile communication tools.
- Understanding of telemetry monitoring systems such as GE and Philips.
- Strong attention to detail—your accuracy literally matters second by second.
