Contract Type: 13-Week Travel Assignment

Shift: Days (12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 Guaranteed
Care Setting: Acute – Psychiatric Unit

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adolescent and adult psychiatric patients
- Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and administer medications
- Support therapeutic interventions for depression, anxiety, substance abuse, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia
- Participate in 15-minute safety rounds and maintain a secure, supportive environment
- Collaborate with mental health techs, occupational therapists, and social workers
- Float as needed throughout the hospital for 1:1s or helping hands
- Document care using EPIC EMR
- Engage in de-escalation and crisis intervention when necessary
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient psychiatric or state hospital experience
- Active RN license
- BLS certification (AHA)
- CPI certification preferred
- Strong de-escalation and communication skills
- Comfortable working with both adolescent and adult populations
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Bismarck, ND
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN not required)
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to remain calm and patient in high-stress situations
- Skilled in behavioral health documentation and care planning
- Familiarity with EPIC charting system
- Team-oriented and proactive in patient care
