Roles & Responsibilities

A blended, enhanced version based on industry expectations and provided details:

• Perform all histology laboratory procedures including embedding, microtomy, staining, coverslipping, and specimen preparation.
• Receive, accession, and label specimens with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Prepare tissue samples using proper standards for sectioning, fixation, and staining.
• Operate and maintain histology equipment—microtomes, processors, stainers, embedding centers, and related instruments.
• Ensure quality control and accurate documentation for all slides and results.
• Collaborate with pathologists and lab team members to support high-quality diagnostic services.
• Follow safety and regulatory protocols, including CLIA, CAP, and internal lab procedures.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, supply management, and proper storage techniques.
• Troubleshoot equipment or staining issues as needed.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Histotechnician (HT) via ASCP (Required).
• BLS (AHA) certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Histotechnician in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting.

Education

• Completion of an accredited Histotechnology program or relevant laboratory science training.

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in microtomy, embedding, staining, and tissue handling.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety standards and quality assurance protocols.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain accuracy under time-sensitive conditions.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative work style.
• Strong technical competence with histology equipment and digital systems.
