Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) – Travel Assignment
Location: Federal Way, WA (Region I – St. Francis Hospital, with float to St. Anne Hospital & Virginia Mason Medical Center)
Shift: 12p–12a | 36 hours/week | Every Other Weekend (EOW)

Position Overview
Join a high-performing Emergency Department team dedicated to patient-centered care and professional collaboration. As an Emergency Room Registered Nurse, you’ll deliver critical care to diverse patient populations in a fast-paced environment at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, WA. Travelers may occasionally float within Region I facilities, ensuring a dynamic and rewarding work experience.
Key Details
- Unit: Emergency Room / Trauma Center
- Unit Size: 25 beds hallway & surge spaces
- Patient Volume: 140–150 patients per day
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Charting System: Epic
- Orientation: 12 hours 3-day department orientation
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift Length: 12-hour shifts (12p–12a)
- Schedule: Day/Night shifts available – mutually agreeable
- Weekend & Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend; rotation includes holidays (not more than core staff)
Required Certifications
- ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
- BLS – Basic Life Support
- NIHSS – National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale
- PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- TNCC – Trauma Nursing Core Course
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum Experience: 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience
- License: Active RN license (will wait for WA licensure if needed)
- BSN: Not required
- Charting Experience: Epic EMR
- Skills Required:
- Competent in managing sepsis, chest pain, abdominal pain, stroke, and pediatric emergencies
- Ability to perform IV starts, phlebotomy, and EKGs
- Strong teamwork and adaptability in a high-acuity environment
- Excellent communication and multitasking skills
Unit Highlights
- Trauma Level: Not specified (high-acuity patient mix)
- Fast Track: No
- Separate Triage Area: Yes; travelers may triage if qualified
- Psych Rooms: 2 dedicated mental health rooms hallway spaces
- Security: In-house
- Support Staff: ED Techs, Sitters, Transition Staff, RTs, and dedicated leadership
- RT Role: Manages vents, CPAP/BiPAP, and ABGs
- X-Ray/CT Access: In close vicinity; staff transport trauma/neuro patients
- Culture: Strong team-based environment with supportive leadership—many travelers convert to permanent staff.
Additional Pay & Float Details
- Primary Site: St. Francis Hospital – Federal Way, WA
- Float Region: Region I – Includes St. Anne Hospital (Burien, WA) & Virginia Mason Medical Center (Seattle, WA)
- Float Incentive: $20/hour when floated to a different Region I facility
- Tax Note: Medical Solutions auto-deducts the 1.75% WA state tax (can be re-added)
