About the Opportunity:
Join a high-acuity Neuro Acute unit in Phoenix, AZ, where your critical thinking and neuro assessment skills will be put to the test. This 48-bed unit includes 10 epilepsy specialty rooms and treats a wide range of neurological conditions including TBI, brain tumors, scoliosis surgeries, and subdural hematomas. You’ll be part of a Level I Trauma Center team, working with advanced EEG monitoring and floating to MedSurg/Tele floors as needed. Key Responsibilities:
- Care for patients with epilepsy, brain tumors, TBIs, scoliosis surgeries, and other neuro diagnoses
- Monitor 24–48 hour Trend EEGs and assess cranial nerves (training provided)
- Titrate medications and respond to subtle changes in patient condition
- Float to MedSurg/Tele units as needed
- Maintain sterile technique during Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (SIM Lab pass/fail required)
- Collaborate with hospitalists, RTs, and pharmacy teams
- Document accurately using Cerner
Unit Highlights:
- 48 beds including 10 epilepsy specialty rooms
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- Charge nurse and resource RN support on every shift
- Scrub Color: Greys Anatomy / Steel
- Orientation: 2 shifts floor-specific
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg/Tele or Neuro experience
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS
- BSN preferred; MedSurg/Tele certification preferred
- Must have Level I Trauma experience
Education:
- ADN or higher (BSN preferred)
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong neuro assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to detect subtle changes in neuro patients
- Familiarity with EEG monitoring and telemetry
- Effective communication and teamwork
