Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Staff Accountant for our Austin, TX office. In this role, you'll be the sole accounting professional at the company - owning everything from day-to-day bookkeeping and job costing to monthly close and financial reporting. You'll work closely with our CEO on budgeting, projections, and cost strategy, making this a rare opportunity for an early-career accountant to gain broad exposure and real ownership from day one. Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally in a small business or startup environment
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of relevant tax regulations and compliance standards
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Track and report on job-level costs and profitability to support project pricing and resourcing decisions.
- Own the full monthly financial close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Partner with the CEO on budgeting, cash flow projections, and ad hoc cost analyses to support business decisions.
- Maintain audit-ready books year-round and coordinate with external CPA for tax filings and compliance.
