About The Job
The Staff Accountant supports core accounting functions, including general ledger management, month-end close, reconciliations, revenue recognition, and audit preparation. This role focuses on ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data across systems and is cross-trained across multiple areas to support strong internal controls, operational continuity, and team collaboration.
You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:
Essential Functions
- Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including deferred revenue, prepaids, and related-party accounts.
- Review general ledger activity and investigate variances to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Reconcile revenue recorded in the general ledger reports and operational systems across multiple programs (e.g., Daxko, CampMinder, Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge).
- Partner with the Accounts Receivable Specialist to validate the completeness and accuracy of cash and revenue activity recorded in the general ledger.
- Partner with the Accounts Payable Specialist to validate the completeness and accuracy of cash disbursements and expense activity recorded in the general ledger.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, including capitalization and depreciation.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Assist with internal financial reporting and variance analysis.
- Support annual budgeting and collaborate with department leaders on submissions.
- Assist with benchmarking and ad hoc financial analysis.
- Document procedures and identify process improvements.
- Support efforts to streamline accounting processes through automation and effective use of technology.
- Cross-train across accounting functions to provide backup support as needed.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience.
- Non-profit experience preferred.
- Excellent computer and Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Thorough understanding of accounting processes and procedures.
Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
