A well-established law firm in Edison, New Jersey is seeking an experienced Controller to join its administrative leadership team. This is a full-time, onsite position at the firm's Edison office.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for firm leadership
- Manage the firm's budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning processes
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax requirements and regulatory standards
- Oversee trust account management and IOLTA compliance in accordance with New Jersey Rules of Professional Conduct
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process
- Supervise accounting staff and provide leadership and guidance to the finance team
- Partner with firm management on financial strategy, cost control initiatives, and operational efficiency
- Manage billing operations and work closely with attorneys on client billing, collections, and realization reporting
- Maintain and improve internal financial controls and accounting procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred
- 5 years of accounting or financial management experience, with law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with legal billing and accounting software (experience with Clio, TimeSolv, or similar platforms a plus)
- Strong knowledge of trust accounting and IOLTA requirements
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must be available to work onsite Monday–Friday in Edison, NJ
What We Offer
- The annual salary for this position is between $100,000 and $130,000. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
