The salary for this position is $90,000 - $110,000.

We are looking for an experienced Controller to manage and oversee the financial operations of our non-profit organization based in Rahway, New Jersey. This role involves leading key accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing financial insights to support decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in non-profit accounting and a proven ability to manage complex financial processes.

Responsibilities:

• Direct and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and month-end closings.

• Lead the organization’s budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure accurate financial planning.

• Supervise accounting staff and enforce robust internal controls to maintain financial integrity.

• Prepare and present comprehensive financial statements and reports to the leadership team and board of directors.

• Oversee the annual audit process and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including grant reporting and financial disclosures.

• Manage payroll operations, benefits accounting, and other critical financial processes.

• Monitor and optimize treasury functions to align with organizational goals.

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on non-profit organizations.
• Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and practices, including financial reporting and grant compliance.
• Proficiency in using Abila MIP or similar accounting software.
• Demonstrated expertise in preparing budgets and managing forecasting processes.
• Experience in leading audit preparations and working with external auditors.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in managing financial operations.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
