The Outdoor Recreation Division (ORD), housed within the New Mexico Economic Development Department, works to help communities turn outdoor assets into economic opportunity and improved quality of life. Through statewide grant programs, partnerships, and policy initiatives, the division invests in trails and outdoor infrastructure, youth access to nature, and the growth of outdoor recreation businesses. Since 2020, ORD has administered tens of millions of dollars in public investments supporting communities across New Mexico as they use outdoor recreation to strengthen local economies and expand access to the outdoors. As the division's work continues to grow, it requires strong coordination, thoughtful systems, and a collaborative team committed to delivering effective public programs that connect more New Mexicans to the outdoors while supporting a thriving outdoor recreation economy.

This position exists to strengthen internal operations, improve coordination and reporting, and help ensure public investments are managed efficiently and responsibly while supporting the division's mission to expand outdoor access and strengthen local economies.
How does it get done?
This position supports the operational infrastructure of the Outdoor Recreation Division by coordinating the systems, documentation, and processes that enable the division's grant programs and strategic initiatives to operate effectively. The role manages workflow across multiple programs by tracking contracts, deliverables, reporting deadlines, and procurement activities while maintaining organized records that support transparency and compliance. Working closely with program staff, the position helps monitor timelines, prepare required materials, and ensure administrative processes align with state requirements and program guidelines. The position also helps strengthen the division's operational systems and reporting capacity. It serves as the primary resource for workflow platforms such as Monday.com and Submittable (the grant management software), helping maintain project tracking systems, improve data organization and developing dashboards that support program oversight and decision-making. By coordinating information across staff, vendors, and partner agencies, the role supports leadership in monitoring program implementation and identifying process improvements that enhance efficiency, accountability, and the responsible stewardship of public funds.

Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license.
Must obtain and maintain a state of New Mexico defensive driving certificate.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
Occasional travel and weekend work may apply.
