The Law Enforcement Records Bureau gathers, analyzes, and disseminates criminal justice data used by New Mexico law enforcement, criminal justice, corrections, courts, and civil agencies to ensure public safety. The bureau maintains complete and accurate records and responds to the needs of the public, law enforcement and criminal justice agencies providing support and customer engagement through our many applications, programs, and services to achieve the mission objectives.
Why does the job exist?
This customer centric role updates criminal history information, arrest fingerprint cards, dispositions, and demographics. Position perform administrative duties or tasks such as: filing, data-entry, quality control, provide fingerprint services for processing applicant-fingerprint supported background checks, responding to public requests for New Mexico name-based background checks, Letters of Good Standing/Police Certificate, accident, incident reports, fielding high volume of phone calls, provide accurate information to internal and external customers, cashier and credit card responsibilities, and records management.

Minimum Qualification
No prior experience or training required.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's Licenses, a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of employment within six (6) months of date of hire.
Employment is subject to a national fingerprint-based records check. Continued employment is contingent upon remaining felony free, per Section 5.12.1.1 of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Security Policy.
Working Conditions
Highly secured office setting due to confidential tasks performed and for personal security. Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. Subject to a national fingerprint-based record checks within 30 days of assignment. Continued employment is contingent upon remaining felony-free, per Section PS-3 of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Security Policy v. 6.0.

How does it get done?
Maintain Records Compliance
- Review, Process, Update, and Release criminal history records in compliance with federal and state requirements. Produce records ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality.
- Enter data and maintain organized, secure electronic and physical records to include all logs associated with each task.
- Perform on hand fingerprinting utilizing the Live Scan AFIS system and Ink Based fingerprinting for nationwide background checks in accordance with legal requirements.
- Prepare and distribute Criminal history reports and Letters of Good Standing/Police Certificate while ensuring accuracy.
- Provide professional customer service with internal and external customers, and agencies, regarding records requests, fingerprinting, and general inquiries.
