SpineSearch is partnering with a leading healthcare system in New York City to identify a Nurse Practitioner. This role will work closely with a renowned spine surgeon within a dynamic, innovative academic practice affiliated with a top-tier medical center and specialty spine hospital.
This rapidly growing department offers a highly collaborative environment with opportunities to help establish and expand an ambulatory care practice, while contributing to the development of new clinical services within orthopedic spine care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to patients with orthopedic, neurological spine, rehabilitation medicine, and pain management conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Collaborate with attending physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, therapists, social workers, and support staff to deliver coordinated, high-quality patient care
- Manage care coordination for patients requiring non-operative treatment
- Assist in optimizing pre-operative care in collaboration with multidisciplinary providers
- Obtain and follow up on consultations from other specialties
- Conduct peer-to-peer consultations to secure surgical pre-authorizations and approvals for diagnostic testing
- Perform inpatient rounds independently and/or alongside attending physicians
- Prepare charts in accordance with protocol and order appropriate imaging using the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patient care, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic and therapeutic tests
- Prescribe and administer pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, including injections
- Monitor treatment effectiveness and adjust care plans as needed
- Perform minor procedures such as dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and brace application
- Conduct post-operative follow-ups, including wound assessments and patient education
- Communicate with patients via phone and EMR, ensuring timely documentation of all interactions
- Triage patient calls and provide clinical guidance to patients and families
- Oversee scheduling workflows, ensuring urgent cases are prioritized appropriately
- Manage prescription requests and documentation within the EMR (EPIC)
- Oversee attending physicians’ in-basket tasks within EPIC
- Complete administrative documentation including disability forms, workers’ compensation, and patient correspondence
- Support patients and families in making informed healthcare decisions
- Facilitate transitions of care across healthcare settings, including admissions, discharges, and home care coordination
- Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and care pathways
- Participate in clinical research initiatives, including design and implementation of trials
- Adhere to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus a minimum of five years of relevant clinical experience
- Active New York RN and Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure (or eligibility), and/or New Jersey NP licensure
- National board certification and DEA registration required
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or other relevant master’s degree
- Clinical doctorate (DNP or equivalent)
- Prior experience in orthopedic care (spine, hip & knee), physical medicine & rehabilitation, or pain management
- CPR/AED certification
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English)
Salary : $130,000 - $140,000
