Spheros Environmental is seeking a Staff Hydrogeologist / Engineer II - III to join our growing team of hydrogeologists and engineers working to develop and manage groundwater supplies within Texas and Oklahoma. The position will primarily focus on quantitative analysis and numerical modeling of groundwater, but will also include opportunities for well design, siting, and oversight and field investigations associated with groundwater level and quality monitoring.
The successful applicant will show strong quantitative or programming skills and the ability to apply these to solve groundwater problems. Candidates will be considered across a range of experience levels. Successful applicants at the Hydrogeologist / Engineer II level will show aptitude towards these tasks, a drive for learning these skills, and a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities
- Technical Tasks: Collect and evaluate hydrogeologic data using analytical and numerical methods. Develop or assist in developing conceptual and numerical groundwater models. Write codes or use software tools to analyze the outputs of groundwater models. Prepare or assist in the preparation of reports and technical presentations to communicate findings to clients.
- Sampling & Analysis: Coordinate field sampling, ensure the safe collection of groundwater, surface water, and soil samples, and collaborate with laboratories. Collect pump test data and evaluate using analytical methods and software. Review geophysical logs and other geological data to assist with well design.
- Field Project Support: Oversee drilling contractors, manage project deadlines, and prepare regular status updates. Ensure that all tasks are completed in accordance with company Health and Safety Plans. Coordinate with subcontractors, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth project execution and meet deliverables.
- Education & Experience: Degree in civil, environmental, or water resources engineering; geology or earth sciences; or related field. Bachelor’s degree with at least two years’ prior experience; or master’s or doctoral degree.
- Licensure/Certification: Valid driver’s license. Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification, or the ability to obtain certification preferred. Applicants at the EIT/GIT will be considered at the Hydrogeologist / Engineer II – III level, while those with PE/PG credentials will be considered at the Hydrogeologist / Engineer III – V level.
- Technical Skills: Strong computer skills and experience with computer programming or numerical modeling. Proficiency in some combination of the following tools is expected: Excel, ArcGIS Pro/QGIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Python, MODFLOW, Groundwater Vistas, FloPy and/or other relevant computer software.
