EcoToxicology Laboratory Technician
Location: On-Site (Port Gamble, Washington) Relocation Assistance Negotiable
Starting Pay: $22/hour
Spheros Environmental is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our Port Gamble, WA team of dedicated aquatic toxicologists. The Port Gamble Environmental Laboratory is a consulting laboratory focused on performing aquatic toxicity testing on water, sediment, and other matrices. The primary responsibilities for this position will include general lab maintenance activities, aquatic toxicology testing support, and cleaning of labware. An adjusted schedule to include weekend days will be required. Duties associated with this role may include assisting with any aspect of the laboratory including (but not limited to): water quality measurements, maintaining of test organism cultures, data entry, and field work. Coursework and a strong background in biology and chemistry are desirable.

Qualifications
- BS in Marine or Aquatic Biology, Environmental Studies, Environmental Toxicology, or a related field.
- 2 years of practical work experience in a commercial laboratory setting.
- Well-organized and conscientious worker, familiar with general laboratory procedures and laboratory safety.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of basic information regarding animal care and husbandry, water quality parameters and characteristics, and principles of aquatic research and laboratory testing.
- The ability to follow protocols, chain of command, and to ask questions when discrepancies arise.
- Attention to detail.
- Proficient at reading, writing, timely communication, and meeting deadlines.
- Works well independently and within a team setting (proactive, quick learner that is detail oriented, ability to multitask).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude are absolute necessities.
- Reliability and flexibility in schedule, with weekend availability.
- Ability to work long hours standing and lift/move heavy objects.
- Ability to perform work in an efficient manner and continually improve.
- Practical work experience in a commercial laboratory setting.
- Previous experience managing staff.
