General Hydro Site Manager Job Description:
1.Operational
• Identify Construction responsibilities as per his roles defined in the project.
• Respect EHS and insists his team respects EHS and ensure every individuals follow EHS as per Alstom requirements and guidelines
sincerely.
• To prepare detailed planning of each activity of generator assembly and its auxiliaries within the scheduled duration with clear measurable
progress parameters.
• To prepare detailed resources required for each activity of generator assembly and its auxiliaries within the limits and reasonable backup.
• To prepare the division of work among the group of supervisor and leading one critical generator assembly by himself in large hydro
project.
• To prepare project specific erection procedure for all generator installation keeping site situation in consideration and, review with site
team.
• To prepare risk assessment and action plan for every activity of generator assembly, get validated by EHS representative and review with
all his team and actions defined.
• Ensure all resources are being provided to his team of supervisors for timely completion with safety and quality.
• Ensure all the documents are made available for every activity of generator assembly to his team of supervisors
• Ensure site tests requirements are identified, planned and organized. Information provided to his team of supervisors with regards to site
testing.
• Involve in work front handing over and taking over from and to client and within inter departmental.
• Leads all supervisors within his control during site planning, execution and monitoring.
• Leads all supervisors in documentation updating, archiving.
• Leads all supervisors in reporting and communicating. Collect Field Service Reports from Site Personnel
• Lead engineer is responsible for execution of complete generator.
• Takes responsibility of NCR till its closure with clear CONQ.
• Ensures technical clarifications are provided in time to his team of supervisors.
• Ensure the compliance by the Customer of the Contractual Obligations in providing access to working area and work front.
• Material verification, preservation, monitoring and early notification for shortages, damages etc. including consumables.
• Resource identification and allocation among the teams as per the priority and scheduled planning.
• Identification and ensuring precession tools availability in good usable condition and with valid test certificate and calibration certificate.
• Supervise, monitor the works and list out all punch points and ensure that the punch points are mostly closed before handing over to the
next activity or to commissioning team.
• Collect all reports, review and provide the same to site planner for further reporting and archiving.
• Plans audits, conducts audits, defines action plan, communicates and archives the audit report. Ensures the compliance of all action plans
defined and properly closed.
2.Managerial (Budget / Administration / People)
• Ensure resources are made available on-time.
• Ensure punctuality and discipline by every individuals of the team.
• Ensure opportunities are being properly tracked and informed for claims. Risks are identified and timely actions are being taken for
reducing addition expenditure.
• REACH initiations are being taken to reduce the cycle time.
• Represent the site team in actions related to home office.
• Maintain cordial relation with client site representative and also with sub-contractor.
• Provide on job training to his team of supervisor and other team members.
3. Functional/transverse
• Provide structure feedback with experiences and lessons learned during the execution.
4. Specific Functional/Technical authority
• Access to all site meetings, documentation and information needed to execute defined tasks and responsibilities.
• Right to decide on the selection of the Personnel assigned to a project, based on qualifications and specific project requirements.
• Right to conduct review meetings and to define actions for improvements.
• De-mobilize Site Personnel if necessary Safety Conditions are not fulfilled / met.
• De-mobilize/Replace Site Personnel if Technical or Behavioral Performance is not according to the requirements of the Project.
• Interrupt any Site Activities if necessary Quality/EHS requirements are not fulfilled.
• Right to certify and initiate or hold back payments to subcontractor based on works carried at site based on their fulfilment or nonfulfilment of the terms of the contract.
• Initiate and follow the local purchases procedures for all project related materials and ensure timely availability of all such materials.
5.Measurement/ Key Performance Indicators
• Defined EHS targets are met.
• Ensure Quality at works, documentation and reporting.
• On time delivery.
• Ensure availability material and resource workmanship.
• Satisfaction of the client site team.
• Further Objectives, Targets and Performance Measurements are defined on a yearly basis
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE
•Minimum of 10-years of prior hydro electric generator experience, preferably in a supervisor capacity.
•Graduate Engineer or a graduate of construction management
•Principles and practices of maintaining multi-purpose hydroelectric generating facilities, including dams, powerhouses, valve and gate houses and equipment associated with these facilities.
•Minimul of 5-years in mechanical installation of shaft lines, turbines or generators or winding
•Safe operation of heavy construction equipment.
•Theory and application of repair and replacement practices for mechanical equipment and heavy industrial machinery used at hydroelectric power generating facilities.
•Principles and practices of customer service.
•Excellent computer skills and MS office knowledge

•Perform skilled duties involving shaft line alignment, bearing settings, mechanical precision toolsnd measurements, setting on-site machining tools
•Read and understand manuals, drawings, plans and specifications.

•Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
