We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer to support the design and delivery of a hyperscale cutting edge large-scale data center portfolio. This role plays a critical part in developing and implementing innovative mechanical solutions ranging from advanced chilled-water systems to liquid cooling and optimized airflow strategies while ensuring consistency, scalability, and efficiency across multiple projects.
This individual will act as a technical authority, partnering closely with internal teams and external consultants to deliver reliable, future-ready hyperscale facilities.
About the Role
- Serve as a subject matter expert for mechanical design across assigned data center projects.
- Lead and manage the mechanical design process, coordinating consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders to meet schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
- Review design drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure compliance with project standards and owner requirements.
- Help define and evolve long-term cooling strategies by evaluating emerging technologies such as liquid cooling, advanced economizer systems, and high-density airflow solutions.
- Support commissioning and site activities, validating that installed systems meet design intent and operational requirements.
- Collaborate closely with IT, operations, and project management teams to deliver integrated, scalable infrastructure.
- Contribute to lessons learned, standards development, and continuous improvement initiatives across the data center portfolio.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 5-7 years of mechanical design experience within data centers
- Strong expertise in chilled-water systems, air-cooled solutions, liquid cooling, and redundant piping configurations.
- Working knowledge of controls/BAS systems and development of sequences of operation.
- Experience with CFD modeling and energy analysis preferred.
- Proven ability to apply innovative solutions to cooling, efficiency, and reliability challenges.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Professional certifications (Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, BICSI, or similar) are a plus.
LOCATIONS can be:
Sunnyvale, Washington, NY or NJ 2 days in the office and occassional 2-5 days per month travel
Salary : $120,000 - $170,000
