Job Purpose
The Senior Account at Southworth Business Services is a key position within our accounting department, reporting directly to the Vice President (VP) of Accounting. This role is responsible for reconciling general ledger accounts and identifying adjusting and accrual entries necessary to accurately complete month-end close for one or more clients. The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in the operations of our client’s businesses, ensuring the accuracy of financial reports and analysis, while maintaining the appropriate documentation.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
· Prepare and maintain the month-end and year-end close processes, such as journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and general ledger maintenance, while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements and reports.
· Help in the implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
· Assist in the preparation of the financial statements, including balance sheets, and income statements.
· Assist with treasury functions, including cash flow management and cash forecasting, to optimize liquidity and working capital for clients.
· Provide support during financial audits, offering assistance in audit preparations and inquiries, thereby ensuring smooth audit outcomes.
· Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives, drive process improvements, and optimize business performance.
· Participate in special projects and initiatives assigned by VP of Accounting or Senior Controller, providing financial expertise and leadership to achieve project objectives.

Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
· 4 years of experience in accounting
· Strong understanding accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
· Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks or Sage is preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
· Experience in the implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls is desirable.
· Must be detail-oriented, resourceful, and possess excellent time-management skills with ability to meet deadlines on numerous projects in a fast-paced environment
· Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
· Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
· This position is based in our office and requires on-site presence during regular business hours. Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available for this position.
