The SD School for the Blind and Visually Impaired has an immediate opening for a Director of Residential Services
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Social Science field preferred; Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred; Supervisory experience preferred. This is a working leadership position requiring initiative, follow-through, staff supervision, problem-solving, and accountability.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, supervision, training, and evaluation of residential staff.
- Develop staff schedules and ensure adequate program coverage.
- Facilitate staff meetings and ongoing professional development.
- Supervise the residential program serving students who are blind or visually impaired, including those with additional disabilities.
- Oversee residential programming, apartment-based independent living instruction, and transition-related activities.
- Coordinate recreation, leisure, and community-based activities.
- Support student development through positive behavior supports, social-emotional growth, and independent living skill instruction.
- Monitor student documentation, reports, data collection, and residential records.
- Collaborate with educational and related service staff to promote student success.
- Foster a positive, collaborative residential team culture.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive residential environment.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and make independent decisions consistent with school policies and procedures.

This is a full-time, benefit eligible, eleven-month position.
Incumbent will be required to undergo a background investigation before employment begins. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment.
Incumbent will be required to provide documentation of MMR vaccination.
