Residential Services Professional substitute position available at The SD School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. This position will fill in shifts during the school year, plus an additional six weeks of Extended School Year during June and July. Hours are generally 2:30 PM – 10:00 PM or 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM (weekend rotation to include some overnights).Primary Responsibilities:· Supervise visually impaired and multi-handicapped students in a residential setting· Write and carry out Individual Education Plans for students· Maintain flexibility, initiative, professionalism, and enthusiasm· Organize and sustain planned activities· Manage student behaviorAbility to:· Communicate both orally and in writing· Maintain confidentiality· Assist with lifting and/or transporting of students with physical needs· Maintain a safe and clean working environment· Works effectively with co-workers and studentsIncumbent will be required to undergo a background investigation before employment begins. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment.Incumbent will be required to provide documentation of MMR vaccination.
