Our client is looking for a Senior Director – Data Science & Advanced Analytics to lead impactful initiatives within drug development. This leadership role sits at the intersection of data science and clinical research, driving innovative analytics solutions that support critical decisions across the drug development lifecycle. You will work closely with cross-functional teams of scientists, clinicians, and statisticians to unlock insights from complex datasets and shape development strategies for new therapies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, guiding analytics efforts across early- and late-stage clinical development within a therapeutic area
- Design innovative approaches to integrate, analyze, and visualize high-dimensional data, including clinical, real-world, and omics datasets
- Develop and apply advanced computational models for patient stratification and treatment insights in collaboration with translational and clinical teams
- Build, validate, and scale predictive models while enabling automation of analytical workflows
- Generate actionable insights through intuitive data visualizations and storytelling
- Partner with stakeholders across R&D to ensure alignment of exploratory analyses with regulatory and development objectives
- Maintain high standards for data quality, compliance, and reporting aligned with industry regulations and internal SOPs
- Drive adoption of new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance analytics capabilities
- Provide technical leadership internally and to external collaborators to ensure consistent data standards and project execution
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and scalability across analytics workflows
Required Qualifications
- PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or Computer Science
- 10 years of experience applying data science in clinical research, drug development, or related domains
- Strong expertise in analyzing clinical trial, real-world, and observational data
- Deep understanding of statistical methods, including regression modeling and survival analysis
- Hands-on experience with machine learning, deep learning, and advanced analytics techniques
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R within high-performance or cloud environments (e.g., AWS)
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex insights for diverse audiences
Preferred Skills
- Experience in therapeutic areas such as oncology, neuroscience, or immunology
- Exposure to multimodal data types including genomics, proteomics, and medical imaging
- Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) techniques
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices in clinical development
- Proven ability to build strategic partnerships and influence decision-making across functions
- Experience working in fast-paced, matrixed environments managing multiple priorities
