Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Clinical Data Acquisition Strategy to lead the vision, roadmap, and execution of data acquisition across clinical trials. This leadership role focuses on modernizing how trial data is captured, integrated, and utilized—while enhancing both patient and site experience.
Role Overview
The Director will drive enterprise-wide strategies for collecting and managing clinical trial data from diverse sources, including site-based systems, external vendors, digital tools, and emerging technologies. This role combines strategic leadership, technical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to enable efficient, high-quality, and scalable data workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Roadmap Development
- Define and lead the enterprise strategy for clinical data collection across multiple data sources (EDC, vendor data, eCOA, digital/device data)
- Develop long-term technology roadmaps that incorporate automation, AI, and advanced analytics
- Align data acquisition strategies with broader end-to-end clinical data and analytics objectives
Process & Data Integration
- Establish scalable processes, systems, and data flows for new and existing data types
- Ensure seamless integration and standardization across the full data lifecycle
- Optimize data collection frameworks to support downstream analytics and reporting needs
Innovation & Digital Enablement
- Lead transformation initiatives to modernize data capture (e.g., EMR-to-EDC integrations)
- Drive adoption of AI and automation to streamline operations and enhance efficiency
- Stay ahead of industry trends and recommend innovative solutions to improve data quality and user experience
Program & Stakeholder Leadership
- Lead large, cross-functional programs from concept through implementation
- Develop executive-level communications, including business cases and strategic updates
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to drive strategic alignment and delivery excellence
- Represent the organization in industry forums and external collaborations
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure data acquisition processes align with regulatory standards, including GCP and ICH guidelines
- Maintain documentation and procedures that reflect best practices and compliance requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (advanced degree preferred)
- 10 years of experience in clinical data acquisition strategy, technology, and process transformation
- Proven experience working with multiple data types, including EDC, vendor data, eCOA, and digital/device data
- Demonstrated leadership in driving large-scale, cross-functional initiatives
Key Skills & Expertise
- Deep understanding of clinical data acquisition strategies and end-to-end data flows
- Strong expertise in tools such as Medidata Rave and other data capture platforms
- Experience leveraging automation and AI to improve processes and efficiency
- Ability to translate complex technical strategies into actionable business outcomes
