Special Education Teacher in Waterbury, CT

A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available in an elementary school setting, focusing on an ASD self-contained classroom for the 2025/2026 school year. This contract role offers the opportunity to work directly with students on the autism spectrum in a supportive environment, with a potential for extended employment until a permanent hire is made.

Location: Bristol, CT

Duration: ASAP start through June 16, 2026

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week

Caseload: Elementary students in an ASD self-contained classroom

Worksite: Onsite only

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction and support to students with autism spectrum disorder in a self-contained classroom setting
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs
• Collaborate with support staff, families, and administration to ensure a comprehensive educational approach
• Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting teaching strategies accordingly
  
  

Qualifications

• Active Special Education teaching license in Connecticut
• Experience teaching grades K-6
• Proven experience working with self-contained classrooms and ASD caseloads
• Ability to work onsite full time
