Interim System Director of Pharmacy (Pharmacist-in-Charge)

About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Interim System Director of Pharmacy / Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to provide executive leadership for both hospital and retail pharmacy operations within a growing healthcare system in beautiful Bozeman, Montana.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and strategic growth initiatives. The successful candidate will serve as the executive sponsor for two major projects:
- Expansion of the organization's Ambulatory Infusion Services
- Optimization and implementation of a comprehensive 340B Drug Pricing Program and Third-Party Administrator (TPA) platform

Key Responsibilities
Pharmacy Leadership & Operations
- Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for hospital and retail pharmacy operations.
- Provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for pharmacy services.
- Manage pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
- Direct staffing, scheduling, performance management, coaching, and employee development.
- Ensure compliance with Montana Board of Pharmacy regulations, CMS Conditions of Participation, and DNV accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with medical staff, nursing leadership, and executive teams.
Financial Management
- Oversee pharmacy operational and capital budgets.
- Monitor drug utilization and pharmaceutical expenditures.
- Manage inventory controls and procurement strategies.
- Support Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee initiatives.
- Drive operational efficiencies and cost savings.
Strategic Project Leadership
340B Program Expansion & TPA Implementation
The Interim Director will serve as the operational lead for a new 340B program expansion.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead implementation of new 340B TPA software.
- Coordinate EHR integrations and data-feed validation.
- Design and validate split-billing methodologies.
- Oversee NDC mapping and replenishment processes.
- Expand and manage contract pharmacy relationships.
- Develop compliance dashboards and audit controls.
- Establish diversion prevention and duplicate discount monitoring processes.
- Ensure HRSA audit preparedness.
Ambulatory Infusion Center Expansion
Responsibilities include:
- Partner with Facilities and Engineering teams on cleanroom expansion.
- Ensure sterile compounding environments meet USP standards.
- Design pharmacy-to-infusion workflow processes.
- Optimize medication preparation and delivery procedures.
- Collaborate with nursing and operational leadership.
- Support growth planning and service expansion initiatives.
- Work with Revenue Cycle teams to improve reimbursement outcomes.
- Ensure appropriate J-code utilization and authorization workflows.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent Pharmacy degree required.
Licensure
- Active, unrestricted Pharmacist License.
- Montana Pharmacist License OR eligibility to obtain Montana licensure via reciprocity upon acceptance.
- Must be eligible to immediately assume Pharmacist-in-Charge responsibilities.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of acute care hospital pharmacy leadership experience.
- Previous Director of Pharmacy or Assistant Director of Pharmacy experience.
- Experience supervising large pharmacy teams.
- Strong budget and operational management background.
Specialized Experience
Candidates must possess proven experience in:

✅ At least one complete 340B TPA implementation/conversion
✅ Ambulatory infusion center operations
✅ Sterile compounding programs
✅ Regulatory compliance and survey readiness
✅ Hospital pharmacy strategic planning

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within integrated health systems.
- Previous Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) experience.
- Strong EPIC EMR experience.
- Project management experience.
- Experience supporting retail and outpatient pharmacy operations.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation
- W2 Taxable Rate: $87/hour
- Weekly Taxable Pay: $3,480
- Weekly Housing & Meals Stipend: $2,720
- Weekly Gross Compensation: Up to $6,200
