Position Summary
The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the hotel’s overall sales strategy and revenue generation efforts. This role oversees all market segments including group, corporate, leisure, and transient business while driving market share growth and building strong client relationships.
The ideal candidate is a proactive hospitality sales leader with a strong network, proven revenue success, and the ability to motivate and lead a high-performing sales team.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Strategy & Market Development
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and occupancy goals
- Identify and secure new business opportunities across group, corporate, leisure, and transient segments
- Monitor market trends, competitive positioning, and demand patterns
- Collaborate with Revenue Management to optimize pricing and inventory strategies
- Analyze STR reports, booking pace, and production data to guide strategy
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop the hotel’s sales team
- Establish individual sales goals and performance metrics
- Conduct regular sales meetings, pipeline reviews, and performance evaluations
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment
Client Relations & Business Development
- Maintain strong relationships with key accounts, meeting planners, corporate clients, and travel partners
- Conduct sales calls, property tours, and presentations to prospective clients
- Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions
- Negotiate contracts and manage key client partnerships
Forecasting & Reporting
- Prepare monthly and annual sales forecasts and budgets
- Track booking pace, revenue performance, and pipeline activity
- Maintain accurate CRM records and sales reporting systems
- Present sales performance updates to executive leadership
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Partner with Catering, Banquets, Marketing, and Operations to ensure seamless event and guest experiences
- Support marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives
- Participate in revenue strategy meetings and planning sessions
Required Qualifications
- 5–8 years of progressive hotel sales experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Proven success in driving revenue growth and market share
- Strong knowledge of group, corporate, leisure, and transient sales segments
- Experience with CRM systems, sales analytics, and revenue strategy
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
