Sirius Staffing is seeking an experienced Procurement Category Manager to lead strategic sourcing initiatives across multiple spend categories. In this role, you will drive competitive sourcing events, build and execute category strategies, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance for approximately $50M in managed spend. You will partner closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Project Management, and Logistics teams to support critical business needs.
Rate: $48.28/hr
Location: Tampa, FL
Schedule: Hybrid – 4 days onsite
Type: 12–18 Month Contract | Full-Time (40 hrs/week)
Travel: Frequently required to attend meetings in various locations
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain category strategies for assigned areas (e.g., substation equipment, electrical materials, construction services, fleet, IT).
- Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to identify cost drivers, risks, and supplier innovations within assigned categories.
- Organize and execute sourcing initiatives (RFPs/RFQs), aligned with the category strategy, while providing guidance to team members.
- Negotiate supplier contracts and manage contract changes, claims, and compliance.
- Prepare contract summaries and support rollout and implementation with internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to forecast demand and ensure the timely delivery of materials and services.
- Drive supplier relationship management to optimize total cost of ownership, quality, and delivery. Track supplier innovations for sourcing strategies. Set KPIs, monitor and assess supplier performance, and resolve critical disputes
- Partner with internal stakeholders to forecast category demand, manage supplier performance, and ensure on-time delivery of critical materials and services. Work closely with logistics staff to put the most efficient inventory solutions into action.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 5 years of progressive procurement or category management experience, ideally within a regulated utility, infrastructure, or energy sector.
- Strong negotiation, contract development, and vendor management skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience sourcing complex services, construction, or material categories.
- Knowledge of public utility procurement regulations and basic contract law principles.
- Experience with ERP/eSourcing tools such as SAP Ariba, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Professional certifications such as CPM, CPSM, CIPS, or PMP.
