What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software/Data Systems Manager position at SILVERDALE BAPTIST ACADEMY?
The position of Software/Data Systems Manager is a ministry to the staff, parents, and students of the Academy. He/she will promote consistency in our data, accuracy in information and foster stability among the many system integrations that have developed as the Academy has grown. They will engage with staff, parents and students while they are changing user, student or family information and they have an extraordinary opportunity to minister gracefully through their support. The Software Systems Manager will be the link between departments, vendors, systems, users and technical operations.
A Software/Data Systems Manager is responsible for the integrity of the Academy’s data and user accounts across all data sharing implementations, fostering accurate and efficient transfers, consistency in Academy procedures related to data and user accounts as well as coordination between departments. They will identify and solve issues relating to user accounts, data accuracy, normalization, and duplications becoming the resolution point for interdepartmental procedural changes. To do so, vast amounts of data and information must be analyzed and reviewed with the cooperation of high volume data departments.
Responsibilities:
- Collecting and organizing information from various sources using data and spreadsheet tools importing and exporting in multiple data formats.
- Critical Thinking capability including identifying and solving problems in various fields or specialized areas, examine data to figure out what is important to adjust, normalize or merge.
- Maintain several user account databases, Single Sign On (SSO) solutions and user authentication platforms needed in large educational institutions.
- Use statistical methods to analyze information and develop solutions to business, education or classroom problems.
- Advise managers or directors on findings and the various courses they can take to resolve the problem.
- Write reports for managers to look over the findings and recommendations. Maintain the large number of user databases the Academy has grown to use.
- Maintain the Student Information System (SIS) and other system data exchanges, including but not limited to Canvas, SeeSaw, Active Directory, Google, SchoolPass, SORA, SBA WiFi, Naviance, Informacast, Atlas Rubicon, Microsoft, ClassLink, FinalSite and a number of eTextbook platforms.
- Help Desk support regarding users, account configurations and other user facing issues related to data or user information.
- Review Academy policies and business processes ensuring consistency and operations that take into account all Academy workflows and cross-departmental lines of business.
- Data exports from multiple sources to support the growing needs of the Academy administration.
- Analyze data and information to identify business opportunities and best practices.
- Recommend and update policies and procedures to improve performance and/or data security.
- Collaborate with both the business and educational teams to improve cost-effectiveness across all platforms and departments.
- Track and manage a large number of integrations, projects or platforms on stated timelines.
- Stay updated on security best practices, cyber-security issues and trending cyber risks.
- Obtain necessary training related to database queries and interpretation of data.
- Keep updated on industry and market trends.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in integrating data systems and data management work
- Minimum of 3 years experience is desired
- Must possess strong attention to detail skill set along with business acumen fueled by sharp analytical skills
- Good people and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information.
- Experience with the following systems is preferred: MacOS, FACTS Student Information System, ClassLink, Canvas LMS, Active Directory: Users and Computers, Excel or its equivalent spreadsheets and other user credential systems.
