SHR Talent is partnering with a healthcare client in Aventura, Florida in its search for a Nurse Manager, Behavioral Health RN.
This Nurse Manager, Behavioral Health opportunity offers an experienced nursing leader the chance to oversee a high-performing behavioral health department within a leading acute care hospital. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for the operational, clinical, and administrative leadership of the Behavioral Health unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric and behavioral healthcare services. This individual will drive quality outcomes, staff engagement, regulatory compliance, and patient satisfaction while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in acute care behavioral health nursing along with demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced hospital environment. Working collaboratively with physicians, hospital leadership, case management, social services, and interdisciplinary teams, the Nurse Manager will lead initiatives focused on patient safety, workforce development, operational excellence, and behavioral health program growth. This role is responsible for 24/7 departmental oversight and plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with Joint Commission standards and organizational policies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight of daily Behavioral Health department operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, productivity, budgeting, and resource allocation to achieve departmental performance and financial goals.
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff while fostering a positive, collaborative, and patient-centered culture.
- Partner with physicians, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to drive quality improvement initiatives, patient satisfaction, and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, state and federal regulations, corporate policies, and evidence-based behavioral health practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN License eligible for Florida practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 30 days of hire if not already obtained.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certification required within 90 days of hire if not already obtained.
- Minimum of three (3) years of Behavioral Health nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of nursing leadership experience as a Charge Nurse, Coordinator, Administrative Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Nurse Manager in an acute care hospital setting required.
- Experience managing psychiatric, behavioral health, mental health, substance abuse, or inpatient behavioral health programs strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR), healthcare information systems, staffing software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership, communication, employee development, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and operational management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement initiatives, regulatory readiness efforts, patient safety programs, and multidisciplinary teams.
