Position Overview
The Pipe Foreman is responsible for supervising field crews in the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground utility systems, including water, storm, and sewer infrastructure. This role ensures work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who communicates effectively, maintains high workmanship standards, and keeps the job site organized and efficient.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of crews (2–7 members), including operators, pipe-layers, and laborers
- Plan and sequence pipe installation to ensure efficient workflow and minimal project interference
- Oversee the layout, assembly, and installation of various types of pipes, including water, storm, and sewer lines
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and company policies
- Conduct regular job site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards
- Maintain accurate records of time, materials, and equipment used on each job
- Communicate effectively with the Project Manager and other team members to ensure smooth execution
- Assist with heavy equipment operation and general labor duties as needed
- Manage job site organization, scheduling, and progress tracking
- Order necessary supplies and materials
- Supervise subcontractors as required
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience as a Pipe Foreman in civil construction
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record (CDL preferred)
- Physically able to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 90 lbs occasionally
- Proven commitment to safety and maintaining a safe work environment
Work Environment
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions (hot and cold)
- Regularly required to stand, bend, stoop, and crouch for extended periods
- May be exposed to vehicular traffic and other construction-related hazards
