Procurement Category Manager II

Employment Type: W2 Contract-to-Hire 4 months
Pay rate: $44.37/hr
SGF Global is seeking a Procurement Category Manager II to support our client in the technology sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic sourcing professional with experience in CyberSecurity and AI software procurement to make a meaningful impact.
About the Role
As a Category Manager II, you’ll lead sourcing initiatives, manage supplier relationships, and drive value across key software categories. You’ll work cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, and Business Units to ensure compliance, cost savings, and strategic alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business objectives
- Analyze spend data, market trends, and supplier performance
- Manage full procurement lifecycle (RFI/RFP/RFQ, negotiation, contracting)
- Identify and qualify suppliers; lead selection and onboarding
- Negotiate and draft contracts with a focus on risk mitigation and value
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance
- Monitor supplier performance and implement KPIs for continuous improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
- 5 years in procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills
- Excellent communication and multitasking abilities
- Experience in CyberSecurity and AI software procurement preferred
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing global or regional categories
- Familiarity with tools like iProcurement, Apttus, Fieldglass
- Knowledge of category-specific markets and products
- Understanding of contract law and compliance
