Key Responsibilities of the Speech Language Pathologist
- Assess patients' speech, language, communication, cognitive, and swallowing needs
- Develop and implement individualised speech and language therapy treatment plans
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions based on each patient's clinical needs
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as appropriate
- Support patients with communication strategies and swallowing-related needs
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on treatment plans and strategies to support continued progress
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Follow clinical, safety, and professional standards throughout patient care
Requirements of the Speech Language Pathologist Role
- Current BLS certification
- Current Massachusetts Speech Language Pathologist license
- Minimum 1 year of Speech Language Pathologist experience
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
