Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities and other needs. Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide personal care services while maintaining client dignity and respect.
- Monitor and document clients' health status, including vital signs and any changes in condition.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, ensuring adherence to prescribed routines.
- Assist in medication administration as required, following HIPAA guidelines.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote socialization and emotional well-being.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, including light housekeeping duties.
- Support clients in community integration activities, fostering independence and confidence.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to provide comprehensive support.
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Experience in group home settings or assisted living facilities is highly desirable.
- Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in health or behavior.
- Knowledge of caregiving techniques for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, autism, or other developmental disabilities.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, including the use of Hoyer lifts for mobility assistance.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques and vital sign assessment.
- Experience in home health or hospice care settings is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
