Duties
- Assist with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility support
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, including those with Alzheimer's or dementia
- Administer medication following prescribed instructions and document accordingly
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements
- Support with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Assist with mobility and transfers using proper techniques to ensure safety
- Accompany clients on outings or appointments, requiring driving skills if necessary
- Manage behaviour management strategies for clients with behavioural challenges
- Support clients with hospice or palliative care needs with sensitivity and respect
- Respond promptly to emergencies using first aid skills when required
Skills
- Experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or home care is highly desirable
- Knowledge of patient care, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and senior care practices
- Ability to administer medication accurately and safely
- Strong caregiving skills with a focus on compassion and patience
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for client transfers or mobility assistance
- Competence in meal preparation tailored to specific dietary needs
- First aid certification and knowledge of emergency procedures
- Valid driving licence for client outings or appointments
- Experience in childcare or hospice care is a plus but not essential
