Duties
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to support patient independence
- Implement treatment plans designed by licensed occupational therapists, including therapeutic exercises and manual handling techniques
- Support pediatric occupational therapy programs focused on childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder interventions
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to develop and modify care plans based on patient progress and needs
- Facilitate patient transport within healthcare facilities or home health environments, ensuring safety and comfort during transfers
- Document care activities accurately in care documentation systems, maintaining compliance with medical terminology standards
- Engage with clients and caregivers through clear communication to explain therapy goals, progress, and home exercise programs
Requirements
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant credential from an accredited program; current licensure or registration as required by local regulations
- Proven experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, disabilities, or in geriatrics settings
- Familiarity with acute care, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or home health environments
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical imaging concepts, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practice
- Ability to assist with ADLs and perform manual handling safely in various clinical scenarios
- Strong communication skills for effective caregiver and client interactions; compassionate approach to patient care
- Experience implementing treatment plans for pediatric clients or those with childhood developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder
